How HavenSolo works

Plain language about what the search does, what it doesn't do, how city guides are put together, and how we earn money.

Last updated: October 2026

What the search does

When you submit a search, HavenSolo sends your destination, dates and guest count to Booking.com with two filters applied automatically:

  • 24-hour front desk — this is Booking.com's "facility filter" code for properties that list round-the-clock reception. It narrows results to properties that have indicated they offer this facility.
  • Sort by review score — results are ordered by Booking.com's "top reviewed" sort, which is based on guest review scores.

That's the complete list of filters. No other filters are added. The results page opens directly on Booking.com, where you complete any booking.

What the filters mean — and don't mean

The 24-hour front desk filter shows properties that have listed this facility on Booking.com. HavenSolo cannot confirm whether that listing is accurate, whether the reception is staffed continuously, or whether it will be staffed on the specific dates you choose. Always check the property's own page and reviews, and contact them directly if this detail matters to you.

Review scores reflect other guests' experiences and are subject to change. A high review score does not indicate that a property is free from risk.

HavenSolo does not inspect properties, does not rate their suitability, and does not guarantee the accuracy of any property listing on Booking.com. Filters narrow your search; they don't guarantee safety.

Prices and availability

All prices, availability and booking terms are set by Booking.com and the individual properties. HavenSolo has no control over them and cannot change them. If you have a question about a booking, a price or a cancellation, contact Booking.com or the property directly.

How city guides are researched

Each city guide is based on publicly available sources: government travel advisories, established travel publications, solo female travel communities, and city-specific guides. Every claim that could be disputed links to the source it came from, and those sources are listed at the bottom of each guide.

We avoid:

  • Unsourced statements about how "safe" or "unsafe" a place is.
  • Specific claims about lighting, crime, or police presence — we only include these when they are clearly attributed to a named source on the page, and we say who said it.
  • Recommendations for named hotels or businesses unless backed by a cited source.
  • Anything we couldn't find a reliable source for — that goes into a "Needs review" note kept internally.

Each guide shows a "Last reviewed" date. This reflects when the guide was last checked and updated, not when the underlying sources were published. Travel conditions change; always check your own government's current travel advisory before you go.

How we earn money

HavenSolo uses affiliate links through Travelpayouts. When you click a search result and complete a booking on Booking.com, we may receive a small commission from Booking.com. This commission comes from Booking.com's margin, not from you — this does not add to the price you pay.

The commission arrangement does not influence which properties appear in results. Results are determined by Booking.com's search and filter logic, not by HavenSolo.
